What do you do at Casa Loma College and in what circumstances would I come to you for something?
I have been hired to be the Assistant Program Director for MRI. I would love for you to come to me regarding any MR issues or guidance regarding the Program and our Students. You may also reach out just because!
What led you to a career in MRI?
I wanted to be a Medical Examiner early in life but fell in love at 15 and was with my ex for 32 years. I knew I wanted to be in the medical field somehow. I was working in the Imaging Department at a hospital and was encouraged by the Medical Doctors and Staff to enter into Imaging. I wanted to pursue Ultrasound. At the stage in my life, you either had to have a Bachelor’s in Science and a graduate from a Radiologic Technologist program. So, I applied to school and was selected amongst a very small group of over 300 candidates and only 19 spots. The goal was to graduate X-ray school and then enter Ultrasound. During clinical rotations, I found myself in front of a MR scanner and never looked back. 6 months prior to graduation from x-ray school I was already hired as a MRI Technologist and have never looked back.
What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why?
All my blessings and graces come from GOD. He has been my biggest support and structure in my life. When all the walls come crashing down, he is my biggest supporter. In saying that I attribute my passion towards a career I’ve learned to truly love. What I do and all that I have been graciously exposed to. I’ve had an amazing career and do not regret my journey.
What’s a work-related accomplishment that you’re really proud of?
This is a great question! It’s truly a 2-part response. The first is the life I have been graciously given to extend my skills and knowledge to my prior students and the relationship I have developed in their journey in embracing their MR career. The 2nd is my dream to be a Clinical Application Specialist for a globally known cooperation. It was the self-verification I needed about my years of hard work and dedication, knowing that the sacrifice was real!
