  • Complete the online application and submit non-refundable processing fee.
  • Meet the college general admissions requirements
    Exception: applicants for the HealthCare Administration program are not required to take admissions exam
  • A conferred associate degree in an allied health discipline or other health related discipline.
  • Official transcripts and proof of graduation from an accredited institution, earning an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) or Associate of Science (A.S.).
    • Completion of all associate degree course work with a grade of C or higher. Students, not transferring to the required lower division general education courses, will be required to complete the general education courses before full admission in to the HealthCare Administration program will be granted.
  • Official transcripts from all other postsecondary work completed
  • Attend and participate in the HealthCare Administration Online program orientation.
  • Successfully complete Introduction to Learning (IOL) which assesses the students’ abilities and prepares the student for successful learning and navigation in online education.

      The admissions essay is an important factor in the admissions process, as it is your opportunity to set yourself apart from other applicants and show the college, admissions advisors, and program directors what you are truly passionate about. The admissions essay must be typed, in APA format, and between 250 and 650 words, using the topic below to inspire and structure your response.
      Essay Topic:

  • Applicants who have submitted a completed portfolio are then scheduled for either a personal interview or an applicant workshop with the Program Director. Date to be announced.
  • After the start of the program, a health examination performed by a physician/nurse practitioner/physician’s assistant with immunization history including verification through blood work. No student will be admitted with a disqualifying result or failure to meet the specified deadline provided by the Academic Clinical Coordinator.
  • Clearance on consumer background report – completed after the start of the program; however, if the criminal background report required discloses violations, even if expunged, the finding may prevent the student from being placed in a clinical externship and the student may be dismissed from the program.
  • Meet the essential functions of a  DMS Technologist as outlined in the DMS Disclosure: Essential Functions – Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
  • Attend the mandatory program orientation(s). Dates will be announced. Students who do not attend the entire orientation may forfeit their seat in the Program.

Any applicant not meeting all of the general admission and programmatic admission requirements will be denied admission into the program.

    The minimum age requirement to begin the Medical Assisting program to start the program is 17.5 years.

Steps for Admission to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

The PTA Program is selective and candidates for admission are ranked according to an objective admission formula that ensures fairness and equitability. Interviews are conducted by a panel.

The admission formula includes points for:

  • Admissions assessment scores as assessed by SLE (Wonderlic Scholastic Level Exam)
  • Prior post-secondary education if any
  • GPA
  • Personal interview with PTA Admissions Panel which includes points for:
    • communication motivation · commitment
    • knowledge of the profession writing sample

Twenty-six (26) students are admitted to the program each cohort, with seats offered to the applicants with the highest scores. Two qualified alternates are identified and offered a seat if it becomes available in the first week. If a seat does not become available, the first and second alternates will be guaranteed a seat in the next cohort if they wish to enter the program at that time. In the case of a tie score, the applicant with the earliest date of submission of a completed portfolio will be offered the seat.

  • PTA Program applicants must submit a portfolio by a specified date. The contents of the portfolio must include:
    • Two (2) letters of recommendation from persons unrelated to the applicant.
    • Two (2) signed and sealed Prospective Student Observation Forms which together demonstrate sixteen (16) hours of observation. The student must demonstrate having observed two different types of clinical settings (e.g., one acute care hospital and one outpatient clinic, or one neurologic rehab center and one children’s health center, etc.).
    • Signed Essential Functions form.
    • Copies of transcripts from high school and any post-secondary educational experiences
    • Admissions Essay:
      The admissions essay is an important factor in the admissions process, as it is your opportunity to set yourself apart from other applicants and show the college, admissions advisors, and program directors what you are truly passionate about.The admissions essay must be typed, in APA format, and between 250 and 650 words, using the topic below to inspire and structure your response.

  • Applicants who have submitted a completed portfolio are then scheduled for a personal interview with the PTA Admissions Panel. Interviews will be held on a date to be announced.
  • Final selection of applicants and alternates is made following the interviews.
  • Mandatory orientation meetings are held on campus for all accepted PTA Program students (including alternates) on Monday and Tuesday approximately 1-2 weeks before the scheduled start of the Program. At this time, students will receive and review the PTA Student Handbook, sign New Student Forms in preparation for the first day of class, and receive CPR and other Students who do not attend the entire orientation will lose his or her seat to the next alternate.
