Adult Echocardiography ARDMS Certification in Adult Echocardiography can help boost your career! By earning your Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential, healthcare professionals gain a critical edge in promoting patient safety in cardiac sonography.
Adult Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) are a very specific kind of diagnostic medical sonographer dealing with the heart. Cardiac Sonographers use ultrasound devices and other imaging tools that use sound waves to create images of the heart. They inspect the chambers and walls of the heart as well as the valves. These examinations are used to diagnose congenital heart disease, valvular disease, pericardial disease, cardiomyopathy, and other cardiovascular disorders.
The ECHO certificate course will provide you with the knowledge, skills, and ability in the areas of normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy, physiology, pathology, and hemodynamics as appropriate in the adult patient.
Classroom Learning During classroom lectures, you’ll learn the foundational skills needed to be a cardiac sonographer. The challenging, high-quality curriculum for the program is designed with courses in a specific sequence, progressively building on expertise as students advance through the program.
Scan Lab What you learn in the classroom will immediately transfer into scan labs where you’ll practice your techniques. The scan lab allows you to accurately practice your skills in a safe environment. There is no clinical externship; however, students will gain the scanning skills and knowledge necessary by scanning volunteers during scan lab. Students will have the opportunity to obtain scanning experience on real patients at off-site clinical facilities under the guidance of the ECHO faculty. The program prepares you to take the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography Adult Echocardiography (AE) credentialing examination and begin working in the adult cardiac specialty area.
